Backed by more than 25 years in the pharmaceutical industry and management, William Carrion currently excels as president of CCG Consulting Group, which he spearheaded in in 2012. Among his responsibilities, he consults on highly technical projects for clients and is responsible for reviewing and approving complex documentation of applicants, which is subsequently presented to government agencies for funding. To prepare for his career, Mr. Carrion earned bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez in 1987 and a Master of Business Administration from Universidad del Turabo in 2000.
Proud to be the first engineer in his family, Mr. Carrion pivoted to the pharmaceutical industry due to the rise of outsourcing. As the industry was establishing medicinal plants on the island, he was hired by Johnson and Johnson as a technical service technician in 1986. He went on to work as a process development investigator for Bristol-Myers Squibb, manufacturing manager for Procter & Gamble, plant manager for Colgate Palmolive and general manager for Millipore through 2002. He was later appointed as vice president of operations for Carrington Laboratories in 2003, project delivery manager for the CSA Group, Architects and Engineers in 2004 and executive director for the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority in 2007.
Finding vast success in his career, Mr. Carrion was named Manager of the Year by the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association and was the recipient of the You Can Make a Difference Award from Colgate-Palmolive in 1998. Among his primary work, he also dedicated his time to serving as president of the Caguas Chapter of Colegio de Ingenieros y Agrimensores de Puerto Rico from 1990 to 2000 and the Puerto Rico Water & Environment Association from 2012 to 2015. He also excelled as an Air Force officer. Mr. Carrion attributes his success to his desire to build a future for the next generation as well as to his mentors and to his leadership, communication and people skills. In addition, he also attributes his success to being able to gather a team of experts for the reconstruction and redevelopment of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority.
